Title:?? Library Specialist ? Mobile Services???????????? ??? Grade 4:? $9.99/hr
Summary: The full-time (40 hours/per week) Library Specialist in Mobile Services is responsible for providing and presenting adult programming for the vehicles, primarily working with adults; in addition to providing circulation and reference assistance to the customers. Normal weekly schedule would be Monday ? Friday and will require one evening per week at a night stop.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1)??? Represents the library in a courteous, effective, and professional manner in all transactions with customers, the public, and coworkers.
2)??? Conducts programming for Mobile Services customers.
3)??? May rotate work schedule on the Bookmobile, Kidmobile and Outreach as needed and assigned.
4)??? Performs circulation duties and clerical work involving library materials.
5)??? Shelves materials and fills requests for items on hold for customers according to library procedure.
6)??? Compiles teacher units, per teacher?s request.
7)??? Creates and prepares bulletin boards and displays on the vehicles.
8)??? Performs other duties as assigned and/or that may be unique to the position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
This position demands a commitment to internal and external customer service along with a positive public service outlook with strong communication and interaction skills and the ability to relate to people of all ages. Knowledge, interest, and appreciation of resources available at and through the library are necessary.? High degrees of flexibility, patience, and tolerance must be maintained. Personal development and motivation to further credentials through education and workshops should be evident. The ability to type and operate equipment, i.e., computer, calculator, scanners, printers, copiers, microfilm/fiche readers, microphone, and multi-media projectors is required. Current knowledge of internet searching, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software is needed along with an exceptional attendance record.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with warm, caring attributes and a sense of humor. Must enjoy working with people of all ages and display energy and enthusiasm for this kind of work.? Computer experience needed. Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computers and hand-held scanners.? Must be able to maneuver 40 pounds of library materials. May include shelving materials on shelves about head level.?
Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in Standard English. Requires the ability to deal with people effectively when confronted with persons acting under stress.?
Education, Experience, and Training
Required: Undergraduate degree in a related field preferred or comparable experience working with adults.? Demonstrable skills in adult programming.? Knowledge of adult literature.? Must have a valid Ohio driver?s license and a safe driving record.?

Desired: Previous library or public service programming experience; previous experience and familiarity with computers/technology.
Physical Requirements
Requires working year round in a Bookmobile/Kidmobile that has heat/air conditioning.? Requires daily travel around the community, loading/unloading materials and equipment in all kinds of weather and climatic conditions.? The ability to exert moderate physical effort such as sitting, walking or standing for at least 90% of the time, with less than 10% of the time spent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; repetitive motion for less than 25% of the time; regular lifting of objects and materials weighing up to 40 pounds; and occasional pushing or pulling of objects and materials weighing less than 100 pounds.? Requires the ability to reach and grasp materials located in all areas of the bookmobile.? Some work takes place sitting behind a desk or standing behind a counter work surface, minor eye fatigue may develop from viewing computer terminals and some stress from constant public contact must be able to lift packages and sacks, trays and tubs of library materials up to 40 pounds.
