Houston and HPD reach deal to save 273 jailers' jobs (Houston Chronicle)

Mayor Annise Parker announced a deal with the police pension system on
Wednesday that will allow the city to defer $17 million in contributions in
the coming fiscal year so it can save 273 jailers' jobs and not take police
officers off the streets to guard inmates.
