Fantasy MLS: Week 13

The Gold Cup is upon us as many Major League Soccer stars leave their club teams to represent their country in the tournament.

With international call-ups affecting roster personnel for some MLS teams this weekend, it's important to know who won't be available for your roster selection. Look at the Gold Cup roster selections before selecting your team for this week.

There have been a few changes throughout the week since the rosters were initially set. The New England Revolution lucked out as Shalrie Joseph will be staying with the club team instead of participating in the Gold Cup. Benny Felihaber might not go either, but that's because he is nursing an ankle injury.

Here are a few more items to consider before setting your fantasy lineup this week:

MULTIPLE GAMES

Chivas USA and Vancouver Whitecaps both play twice this week. Chivas has two home games against Vancouver and Portland so their players make for great plays this week.

FANTASY MLS WEEK 13 BEST XI

GK ? Dan Kennedy, CHV ? The Chivas defense is greatly improved this year under Robin Fraser, despite giving up three goals last week. With home games against both expansion sides, Kennedy has a great opportunity to get a shutout this week.

?D ? Ugo Ihemelu, DAL ? Center defender has shown that he is capable of scoring this season. He has been a staple of the stout Dallas defense, which has a home game this week vs. New England.

D ? Omar Gonzalez, LA ? Los Angeles will be without Landon Donovan this week, but the Galaxy defense should be able to handle the D.C. United attack without him. Look for the Galaxy defense to get shutout points.

D ?Heath Pearce, CHV ? Very versatile player for Chivas and has two chances to pick up shutout points this week. He also has been a threat offensively with three assists on the season. Pearce is a great play this week.

M ? David Beckham, LA ? Has seven assists on the season and has proven to be a very valuable part of the Los Angeles attack this season. With Donovan gone, look for more weight to be put on Beckham to provide service this week.

M ? Brek Shea, DAL ? Finally playing an attack-minded role, Shea has thrived moving up from his defensive position earlier in the season. Look for him to spark the Dallas attack against the Revs this week.

M ?Brad Evans, SEA ? Returned from his injury this past week and has stepped up with Steve Zakuani out injured. Look for him to have a strong game at Chicago.

M ? Sebastian Le Toux, PHI ? Philadelphia was clicking on all cylinders last week and Le Toux is a main part of their offense. Look for him and Danny Mwanga to pair up and pick up good fantasy points on the road vs. Colorado this week.

F ? Luke Rodgers, NY ? New York will be missing six players this week due to international call-ups; however, the Red Bulls will still bolster their normal striker pairing. Rodgers should have a chance to finish off many opportunities this week with a home game vs. Columbus.

F ? Theirry Henry, NY ? Same as Rodgers, Henry will be looked upon to create any chances New York has this week. He should be able to step up to the challenge, assuming his knee permits him to play..

F ? Justin Braun, CHV ? Has shown that he can score this season and has two opportunities to do so this week. He is likely to get on the score sheet at least once.

Coach ? Robin Fraser, CHV ? His team has two winnable home games this week vs. expansion sides Portland and Vancouver. Chivas should walk away with favorable results in both of these match-ups.

INJURY WATCH

Colorado midfielder and fantasy stalwart Jamie Smith did not play this past week, look out for his status before starting him this week. Also, Charlie Davies is still out with a hamstring strain but was upgraded to probable this week. For other injury news, check out the most updated MLS injury report.
