Though the rate of homeownership in the U.S. has dipped to a 16-year low, owning a home is clearly still very important to most Americans. Even though home prices are on the incline, it's still a market full of deals to be had. If you're thinking now's the time to buy a home, where should you start looking?

NerdWallet.com took a look at the 10 best cities to own a home. Their criteria in choosing the cities was simple (well, sort of): They looked at cities where homes are available (higher for-sale inventory), where homes are affordable and where there is high-growth opportunity (meaning low unemployment and growing population).
