With a range of computer layout programs and graphics, graphic designers and graphic artists plot, analyze, and develop visual solutions to relay data from one group to a different group. Designers use a wide array of methods like animation, photography, illustration, type, color and different layout and print methods to communicate messages in the best way that they can. Graphic designers are responsible for the development of the full layout and production design of journals, corporate reports, newspapers, magazines, and various other publications.

Additionally, they make promotional displays, marketing and packaging pamphlets for service and goods, design unique logos for businesses and goods, make signs and systems of signs and create websites, interactive media and multimedia endeavors. They begin by preparing sketches and layouts to clearly show what they are visualizing for the final design. They choose the colors, photos, sound, animation, artwork, font and other visual components of the design.

Designers further choose the arrangement and the size of the various parts for the screen or the page. Designers must make charts and graphs out of raw data to display in their projects, and will have to work with copywriters to make room for any text that will also appear on the page. The pinnacle of the career of the graphic designer is to take a job with potential but no resources to the achievement of its full potential.

While on the job training is an excellent tool for designers, a design degree and internships can prove much more useful at preparing graphic designers to achieve more in their profession. Usually, even entry level positions require a bachelor?s degree, but some graphic design jobs that involve technical work just require a two year degree. Colleges and universities across the country offer baccalaureate programs in graphic design, as well as private design schools.

Such curricula will be composed of principles of design, computer assisted design, commercial graphics production, printing technique and the like, together with liberal arts classes in composition, marketing and business, all of which assist designers in dealing more effectively with content. Two and three year professional and technical schools also offer associates degrees in this field. These schools generally offer a more focused schedule of training in the more technical elements of graphic design without the accompanying liberal arts material.

When competing with others for a job, a good portfolio full of the best work of the designer may make the difference between being hired or not. Excellent communication and problem solving skills as well as the ability to work under pressure and independently are major skills the designer should possess. Many positions also require a good working knowledge of computer graphics and design software programs.

Due to the fact that graphic artists are highly sought after by advertisers, computer design companies, and publishing companies, the job opportunities are probably going to grow in number about as quickly as most other jobs throughout 2014. Open slots will offer intense competition, though, as there are numerous talented and capable people who are interested in graphic design careers. People possessing a bachelors? degree and know how concerning computer design programs, especially those who have animation and web page design experience, will have the greatest chances. Graphic designers will also be more in demand since there is a growing market for information online and growth of the video entertainment market involving online outlets, video, movies and television.
